RAMLA, ANCIENT ARIMATHEA, DAVID ROBERTS, TINTED LITHOGRAPH

Tinted lithograph is a plate from David Roberts (Scottish, 1796–1864)'s monumental publication, The Holy Land, Syria, Idumea, Arabia, Egypt, and Nubia. The view depicts the historic town of Ramla (traditionally associated with the biblical Arimathea), showcasing its prominent tower, minarets, and sprawling structures across a low plain. In the foreground, travelers rest near scattered ancient stone ruins and a quiet pool of water, captured in Roberts's signature detailed and romanticized topographical style. The print retains its original historical text layout below the image, titled "RAMLA." Printed Publisher Line: "London Pub.d by F. G. Moon 20 Threadneedle S.t Aug.t 18.th 1843." Framed. Not examined out of frame.

  • Dimensions: Plate: 9.5 x 13 inches; sheet (approx): 22 x 15 inches; frame: 23 x 17.5 inches
