Desirable Early Production Remington Model 1890 Single Action Army Revolver Two-Digit Serial Number "55" One of approximately 2,020 Model 1890 Single Action Army Revolvers manufactured c. 1891-1896, per "Flayderman's Guide", with this early production example bearing the two-digit serial number "55". Finding a Model 1890 with a high level of original finish is a rare occurrence, especially considering these revolvers saw heavy use on the frontier, having been made in a time where they were in great demand. The Model 1890 was the successor to the Model 1875 and Model 1888, intended to be a competitor to the Colt Single Action Army. Old West lawmen and outlaws alike carried the Model 1890, and today the model is one of the most sought after of all of the Remington produced handguns. It features fixed blade front and top strap notch rear sights, along with "REMINGTON ARMS CO. ILION, N.Y." marked on top of the barrel. The serial number is stamped on the left side of the frame under the grip. Fitted with a pair of brown checkered hard rubber grips with the Remington Arms "RA" monogram at the tops and a lanyard loop on the base.
