Lot of WWII Nazi German Medals lot to include 1) DSVB STATE SHOOTING ASSOCIATION AWARD. Roughly 55mm diameter, die struck alloy award with a fire gilted finish and multi-colored enamel work. Award features a recessed, circular outer border with fire gilted oak-leaf wreath encompassing a raised, smooth fire gilted inner field with the likeness of a rifleman in brown jacket, green and red striped shirt and black pants clutching a brown and blue rifle above a white target with canted gilt swastika. The rifleman is flanked by white script and date, "Meisterklasse Kitzbuhel 1943", (District Shooting Kitzbuhel {location}, 1943). The gilt finish and multi-colored enamel work are all intact. Complete with original pinback device. The DSVB, Deutscher Standschutzenverband, (German State Shooting Association), was originally a loosely associated group of non-political, civilian organizations consisting of voluntary members with an interest in competitive marksmanship. The DSVB held numerous marksman competitions through-out Germany with assorted badges, trophies, and plaques awarded as prizes to the successful participants. Although the DSVB remained a voluntary civilian organization not affiliated with any political party or the military, as with other civilian organizations during the Third Reich, it fell under the influence of the NSDAP which intervened in their activities and enforced strict regulations in an attempt to enact gun controls favorable to their ideals. One of the enforced regulations was the registration of all members into the NSDAP supervised DSVB. Other regulations included newly introduced uniforms for the membership and the adoption of the swastika on many of its marksman awards. 2) DSB "GAUSIEGER" 1936 SHOOTING ASSOCIATION BADGE. Roughly 35mm x 52mm. Fire gilt finish with enamel work. Complete with original pin back device. Marker marked to Fechler.c 3) GERMAN RED CROSS ALPINE RESCUE BADGE. German Red Cross 'Alp. Rettungsdienst' badge, intended for members of the German Red Cross Alpine Rescue Service. The 45mm. wide enameled badge displays a pair of skis behind an edelweiss which itself is topped with an enameled red cross with a mobile swastika at center. The verso bears a simple pin and catch assembly and is stamped: 'GES. GESCH.' 4) WWII NAZI GERMAN SA TREFFEN BRAUNSCHWEIG BADGE. The 1931 SA Braunschweig Treffen badge was originally designed as a day badge sold at the actual event. Hitler audaciously brought a larger contingent of SA to the event than was anticipated and dominated the event. As a commemoration, the badge was elevated to a 'traditions' award after 1933 and was allowed to be worn by those having taken part. This is a stellar example of the RZM solid version. The details are superb, with clearly defined oakleaf border, early NSDAP eagle, and crisp lettering. The finish looks as super as it did 70+ years ago. Still bears the original pin and catch. Below this is the RZM logo and code 1/35 which indicates Wachtler & Lange of Mittweida 'Ges Gesch'. As with most rallies and events of the period the SA rally hosted by SA-Gruppe Nord at Brunswick on October 17TH and 18TH 1931, issued a badge to commemorate the event. These badges were typical of the period and were normally cheaply made and only worn during the event. On November 6TH 1936 Hitler elevated this rally badge to the status of an National honor award, as the third NSDAP rally badge to gain such a distinction. After the badge’s elevation to National status it was manufactured again with slight variations to the original rally badges. Mint. 5) RUSSIAN FRONT MEDAL 1941/42. Die struck, alloy construction, medal with a silver washed outer rim and helmet, and a blued center. The obverse of the medal features a recessed outer rim with an embossed helmet and stick grenade to the top center and a high relief Wehrmacht style national eagle with down swept wings, clutching a static swastika in its talons which is superimposed on a laurel leaf sprig to the center. The reverse of the medal features a recessed outer rim with a smooth background field with embossed Latin script to the center, "Winterschlacht Im Osten 1941/42", (Winter Battle in the East 1941/42), above a crossed sword and laurel leaf sprig. The medal loop and the ribbon suspension ring are both intact. The cross comes complete with a piece of original ribbed rayon ribbon. The Russian Front Medal was instituted by Adolf Hitler on May 26TH 1942 to commemorate the first winter campaign in Russia. The award was available to all Wehrmacht personnel, civilians and foreign volunteers who met the required criteria with the main qualification being at least fourteen days of participation in combat on the Russian front between November 15TH 1941 and April 15TH 1942 within preset geographical boundaries. The award was designed by SS-Scharführer Ernst Krause and was officially designated as Medaille Winterschlacht Im Osten 1941/42, (Medal {for} Winter Battle in the East 1941/42), but was commonly referred to as the "Frozen Fresh Medal". OKW, Oberkommando der Wehrmacht, (High Command of the Armed Forces), regulations of September 4TH 1944 discontinued the Russian Front Medal with the last award being bestowed on October 15TH 1944. Of Note: Generally the Russian Front Medal was only worn on the day of bestowal or on a medal bar for dress or ceremonial occasions resulting in the ribbon being worn on a day to day basis on the field blouse.
