The verso bears the artist's handwritten title, signature, and date, and includes the original 1992 gallery receipt.

Item Description
Weight: 2lbs 9oz

A moment of profound stillness is captured with breathtaking verisimilitude in Alfredo Rodriguez's masterwork, "Fall Hunter." This is not merely a portrait but a narrative steeped in the quiet solitude of the American frontier. The viewer is invited into a dense, autumnal forest where dappled sunlight, a cascade of liquid gold, breaks through the canopy to illuminate a lone figure. The mountain man, weathered and wise, kneels in contemplation. His face, framed by a grizzled beard and a formidable fur cap, is a testament to a life lived in harmony and conflict with the wilderness. His eyes, though shadowed, hold a deep, knowing calm—the quiet confidence of a man utterly at home in his world. Rodriguez masterfully uses a dramatic chiaroscuro, contrasting the brilliant light on the forest floor with the deep, mysterious shadows of the woods behind, creating a scene of immense depth and emotional gravity.

The technical brilliance of Rodriguez is on full display. His signature use of impasto lends a tangible, almost sculptural quality to the composition. One can nearly feel the rough bark of the towering pines, the crisp texture of the fallen leaves, and the supple, worn grain of the hunter's buckskin attire. The artist’s brushwork is both controlled and expressive, rendering the intricate details of the flintlock rifle with the same confidence as the fleeting, impressionistic flecks of autumn color that dance in the background. This painting is a powerful meditation on independence, resilience, and the solemn beauty of the untamed American West, executed by a modern master of the genre.
