  • Notes: Luc Archambault was born in 1954 in Ste-Catherine-de-la-Jacques-Cartier near Quebec City. He is a self-taught artist, but in the late 1960s and early 1970s often spent time at the art workshop at the Petit Seminaire de Quebec, under the tutelage of Father Lucien Godbout. Archambault has exhibited regularly since 1973, and in 1983 he participated with the first Quebec delegation at the "Salon de la jeune peinture" (Young painting salon) at the Grand Palais in Paris. Since then he has exhibited across Canada and in the United States (Atlanta, Huntsville, Boston) as well as Australia and Europe. He received the Prix Amanagement Art Public in 2002 and the Prix Jean-Marie Gauvreau in 2006. Archambault often represents the human body in his work, while evoking mythology, literature, dance and music in a metaphorical and expressionist space. Today his work appears in many private and public collections, including the Maison de la Litterature (Quebec City), Musee des Beaux-Arts (Montreal), Canadian National Library (Ottawa), and Ahuntsic College (Montreal).
