An elegant late 19th to early 20th century American Victorian banquet/parlor lamp, originally manufactured as a kerosene lamp and subsequently electrified for modern use. The lamp is fitted with an exceptionally attractive satin art glass font, hand-decorated with large pink blossoms, delicate forget-me-nots, and lush green foliage against a softly shaded ground transitioning from blush pink to pale blue. The burner is marked "THE ROCHESTER," identifying it as a product of the Rochester Lamp Company, one of America's premier manufacturers of high-quality kerosene lighting. The lamp retains its original Rochester burner assembly with wick adjustment mechanism and is now wired for electricity. The elaborate silverplate reservoir and base display richly executed repoussé and cast ornamentation featuring stylized floral motifs, pierced galleries, scrolling decoration, and expressive Green Man mascarons. Raised floral repoussé panels and finely detailed pierced work exemplify the high level of decorative craftsmanship associated with the American Aesthetic and Victorian periods. The lamp is raised on four scrolling feet and retains an attractive overall presentation, combining finely cast silverplate metalwork with an exceptional hand-painted art glass globe. A highly decorative example suitable for display in Victorian, Art Nouveau, or fine decorative arts collections.

  • Literature: Comparable examples of Rochester Lamp Company banquet and parlor lamps are illustrated in period Rochester Lamp Company catalogs and references covering late Victorian American lighting, including works by Catherine M. V. Thuro, Oil Lamps: The Kerosene Era in North America.
  • Circa: Circa 1895–1915.
  • Condition: Overall very good antique condition with age-appropriate wear. The hand-painted satin glass globe displays vibrant decoration with no readily apparent cracks or major damage observed from the provided photographs. The silverplate base exhibits expected surface wear, light tarnish, minor scratches, and scattered rubbing consistent with age and use. Electrified with period-style cord; wiring has not been tested and should be inspected prior to regular use. Burner and wick adjustment mechanism remain present. Examination under blacklight is recommended for a complete condition assessment.
