Very Fine and Early Cased Engraved H. Holland Percussion Double Barrel Rifle/Shotgun Set This set comes from early in the history of Holland & Holland c. 1846-1855 prior to Harris Holland taking on his nephew Henry. It features a 16 bore barrel set with two-groove rifling for belted balls and a 14 bore shotgun barrel set, each with the "H. Holland. 9 KING STREET. HOLBORN. LONDON." address on the rib, the matching serial number and London proof marks along with "JSK" on the undersides at the breech, and matching numbered breech hooks. The rifle set has a dovetailed blade front sight and three-leaf rear sight graduated for 150, 200, and 250 yards. The shotgun set has a bead front sight and absent nipples. The locks are signed "H Holland" in script. The locks and mounts have scroll and border engraving and stylized pineapple finials. The serial number is marked on the trigger guard tang. The walnut half-stock has panels of checkering on the forend and pistol grip, German silver escutcheons, and a 14 1/4 inch length of pull. The gun comes in a brass cornered hardwood case with a H. Holland trade label with the 9 King Street address, a 16 bore belted ball mold, sprue cutter, C.&J.W. Hawksley leather shot flask, punch, cap tin, and some belted balls.
