Locations vary, ca. 1878-1922. Group of 16 manuscript diaries of William M. Wikoff, recording daily entries for the whole years of: 1878, 1886-87, 1892, 1896-98, and 1916-22. Sizes vary. Many bound in wallet-style bindings, with pockets at rear that include receipts other ephemera. Lot includes eight black and white photographs of Wikoff and members of his family. Also included is a typed document outlining the genealogy of the Wikoff family. Condition varies, diaries generally worn, some with front or rear covers split at gutter; contents generally fine and legible.

A fascinating and extensive archive of manuscript diaries kept by William M. Wikoff (1855-1935), a teacher, preacher, member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, and avid automobilist who lived in New Salem, Ohio, during the 19th and 20th centuries. Wikoff records observations related to him and his family, his educational and preaching careers, as well as his association with the Odd Fellows Thornville Lodge No. 184. He often provides brief notes on particular days coinciding with important historical events, such as presidential elections, the Spanish American War, World War I, and much more.
