A pair of solid sterling silver spoons produced by the Whiting Manufacturing Company in the Louis XV pattern, which was patented in 1891. The spoons feature a Rococo Revival design characterized by ornate handles with chased scrolling foliage and volutes that create a scalloped appearance. Each handle terminal is finished with a fan-shaped shell motif. The reverse of the neck on both pieces is stamped with the Whiting maker mark of a griffin, the word STERLING, and the patent date PAT. 1891. One spoon terminal is hand-engraved with an intertwined script monogram consisting of the letters JMR.
