JOHN ERICSSON
(1803-1889) American engineer and designer of the revolutionary ironclad USS MONITOR and the first screw-powered vessel, USS PRINCETON. Good association A.L.S., 1p. 4to., New York, April 15, 1871, to U. S. Navy chief engineer William W. W. Wood, in full: ‘This will be presented to you by my friend Wm Reynolds, who has kindly undertaken to attain certain information regarding the [screw frigate USS] Madawasca engines, which I am anxious to possess. You will therefore much oblige me by communicating freely with Mr Reynolds with reference to the said engines. He signs boldly ‘J. Ericsson' in black ink at the conclusion. Folded in quarters, with some splits thereto on the overleaf repaired with cello tape, mildly toned at the edges, otherwise in very good overall condition.

Customers who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee.
