WHALEBONE AND EXOTIC WOOD INLAID KEEPSAKE BOX
America, Circa 1875
Hinged lid with floral medallion at the center composed of an elaborate pattern of overlapping whalebone rings and exotic wood petals and leaves. Medallion flanked by a metal Masonic sword piercing an exotic wood heart, and a metal Masonic trowel. Whale ivory and exotic wood quarter fans and metal five-pointed stars at the corners. Metal Masonic compass and square at front of lid and metal diamond-shaped key escutcheon.

  • Dimensions: Height 3.25". Width 9.75". Depth 6.25".
  • Condition: No key. Some lifting of inlay. Separation of panel from exterior molding on lid. Scattered spots of unobtrusive discoloration.
