A charming and highly collectible grouping of four handcrafted rabbit figures by Vaillancourt Folk Art of Sutton, Massachusetts, comprising a signed and dated folk art sculpture depicting a rabbit pulling a garden cart laden with an oversized carrot, together with a large seated rabbit figure and two smaller companion rabbit sculptures. The centerpiece, signed to the underside "Vaillancourt Folk Art, Sutton, Mass. #684, 2001," exemplifies the whimsical narrative style for which Judi Vaillancourt and the Vaillancourt Folk Art studio have become internationally recognized. Depicting a dressed rabbit in a green coat and ochre scarf pulling a rustic cart overflowing with moss and a harvest carrot, the sculpture reflects the studio's celebrated blend of New England folk traditions and handcrafted artistry. Accompanying the signed figure are a beautifully modeled seated rabbit on a naturalistic base and two smaller hand-painted rabbit figures, each bearing Vaillancourt Folk Art markings to the underside. Together, the grouping presents an engaging woodland tableau suitable for seasonal Easter display or year-round folk art collections. Founded in 1984 by Judi Vaillancourt, Vaillancourt Folk Art has earned an international reputation for handcrafted holiday and seasonal collectibles inspired by antique European candy containers, early American folk traditions, and nature. Each piece is individually hand-painted, lending subtle variations that enhance its artisanal character and collectability. An appealing ensemble for collectors of Vaillancourt Folk Art, American folk art, or handcrafted seasonal décor, offering warmth, whimsy, and exceptional display presence.

  • Literature: Comparable examples may be found in reference works covering Bohemian, Bavarian, and Central European hand-cut crystal production, including manufacturers such as Nachtmann, Bleikristall, Rogaska, and other post-war European crystal houses renowned for traditional wheel-cut decoration.
  • Circa: 2001 (signed centerpiece); accompanying rabbit figures contemporary to the period.
  • Condition: Overall very good displayed condition. Light expected wear to painted surfaces and bases consistent with careful display and handling. The rabbit cart retains its decorative moss and carrot elements. Minor paint wear and small abrasions to the underside edges are present, with no significant losses or repairs observed in the photographs.
