Attractive Gino Cargnel Signed, Marilyn Monroe Themed Master Engraved, and Gold Inlaid Winchester Model 21 Double Barrel Shotgun Manufactured between 1945 and 1960 and subsequently embellished by Master Engraver Gino Cargnel. The gun has blue Winchester Proof Steel barrels featuring dual bead sights on the matted concave solid rib, wedges of Germanic scroll engraving at the breech with multi-color gold inlaid bouquets, gold bands and engraving at the muzzles, jewelled flats, chokes marked full/full, and chambers marked 2 3/4 inches with ejectors. The barrels are fitted to the handsomely scalloped blued action which displays near full coverage Germanic scrollwork with gold inlaid borders and interspersed with multi-color gold inlaid bouquets; two on either side, one on the trigger guard with a heart, on the toplever, and in a frame around a multi-color gold inlaid likeness of Marilyn Monroe's famous "Flying Skirt" photo. Born Norma Jeane Mortenson in Los Angeles, CA, in 1926, she adopted the name Marilyn Monroe in 1946 as a stage name as a budding actress with 20th Century Fox. Monroe would go on to become America's heartthrob, helping to define American culture in the 1950s along with other icons of the day like Elvis Presley, Marlon Brando, and the American "hot rod". Monroe ended the 1950s as the highest billed actress of the decade and forever cemented herself as a defining symbol of her era. The engraving is signed "G. CARGNEL" in a banner beneath the scene along with the Winchester "TRAP" marking. The gun features a single trigger and a tang mounted manual safety with gold inlaid "SAFE" indicator below the serial number, also in gold. The gun is fitted with a beautifully figured and multi-panel checkered beavertail forend with blued engraved and multi-color gold inlaid iron and release. The pistol grip stock is magnificently flame figured and features multi-point checkering and a Winchester recoil pad. Includes a letter from Griswell's Fine Arms stating that this gun was commissioned by director John Millus when he was working on a Marilyn Monroe film that never came to be. Barrel and stock measurements (R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the breech .732/.731 inches; choke constriction .033/.033 inches; minimum wall thickness .029/.029 inches; 1 1/4 inch drop at comb; 2 inch drop at heel; 14 1/2 inch length of pull; weight 7 lbs. 12 oz.
