British W. W. Greener Martini Action Light Harpoon Gun with Case and Accessories Developed in the 1950s and manufactured by W. W. Greener of Birmingham, England, the Greener Light Harpoon Gun uses a Martini action and loads .38 caliber blanks to launch harpoons in a similar fashion to rifle grenade "spigot" launchers. It is probably best known for its appearance in the 1975 movie "Jaws" where it is wielded by the character Chief Brody. In operation, the harpoon slots over the final 11 inches of the barrel and connects to a line wound around a spool frame secured via screw fasteners on either side of the front of the forearm. Birmingham proofs are present on multiple components, with the loading data (14.5 grains of Cordite, 16 ounce harpoon) on the chamber, along with the Greener address and model markings on the frame. Matching "76" serial numbers on the barrel and action lever with assembly number "13" under the lever. Fitted with a smooth walnut forend with a spool frame mounting point on the front and a straight grip walnut stock with smooth nickel finished steel shotgun butt. Includes a latched hardwood transport case fitted for the gun, containing four stainless steel harpoons, two wound line spool frames, and a "SPECIAL/CARTRIDGES/FOR/GREENER/LIGHT HARPOON GUN" marked full 50 round box of Kynoch branded blank cartridges (two primers struck).
