CUT-AWAY SOVIET UBR-354P ANTI-TANK TRAINING ROUND
A rare and quite impressive piece, a Soviet UBR-354P cut-away anti-tank round created for training purposes. The life sized model shows the round's primer, powder, tungsten-carbide core, etc., the shell casing labeled and the entire shell set into a 22 x 6.75 x 4 in. painted wood case. Very good condition. The UBR-354P was a 76.2mm hyper-velocity, armor-piercing, composite rigid tracer (HVAP-T) round used during and immediately after World War II. It was primarily fired from iconic Soviet tanks and anti-tank guns, including the T-34/76, KV-1, and SU-76. The shell used a hard, heavy sub-caliber tungsten-carbide core surrounded by a softer, lightweight metal body or sabot. Because the tungsten core is much denser and harder than standard steel, the shell relied on pure kinetic energy rather than explosive filler to defeat heavy armor. There was also a tracer element in the base to allow gunners to visually track the projectile's trajectory. This round was highly effective at punching through flat, vertical armor at close to medium ranges, and could penetrate upwards of 100mm of armor at close range.
