A historically significant English transferware commemorative plate produced by Crown Ducal, England, celebrating the 200th anniversary of the birth of George Washington (1732–1932). This beautifully executed blue and white transfer-printed example features the touching scene titled "Washington and His Mother," depicting George Washington beside his mother, Mary Ball Washington, before the family homestead, framed within an elaborate floral and scrollwork border inspired by eighteenth-century Staffordshire patterns. The reverse bears the commemorative inscription: "George Washington Bicentenary Memorial Plates 1732–1932 First in War First in Peace First in the Hearts of His Countrymen" along with the Crown Ducal England factory mark. Produced during the worldwide bicentennial celebrations of 1932, these commemorative plates honored America's first president while reflecting the long English tradition of historical transferware ceramics. Crown Ducal, one of England's foremost twentieth-century pottery manufacturers, became widely respected for producing finely printed commemorative wares, historical scenes, and decorative table ceramics distinguished by exceptional clarity and craftsmanship. Today these Bicentennial plates remain highly collectible, appealing to collectors of Washingtoniana, presidential memorabilia, English transferware, historical ceramics, and early twentieth-century commemorative objects.   • Condition: Very good vintage condition. Light age-related crazing and minor surface wear consistent with age and careful handling. No apparent cracks, chips, or repairs observed. Minor firing and glaze imperfections typical of period production. Presents exceptionally well.
