Fine Colt Third Model Dragoon Percussion Revolver with London Retailer Case Colt's Third Model Dragoon revolvers were manufactured between 1851 to 1861 and were the last of Samuel Colt's massive "horse pistols" descended from the famous Colt Walker. This commercial example was manufactured in 1851. The Third Model Dragoon can be quickly distinguished by its round trigger guard and rectangular cylinder stops. It features a German silver blade front sight, the one-line "-ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW-YORK CITY-" barrel address, "MODEL U.S.M.R." and "COLT'S PATENT" on the cylinder along with the Texas Ranger and Comanche battle scene, and "COLT'S/PATENT" on the left side of the frame. A small "O" is marked on the barrel, loading lever, in two locations around the trigger guard, and on the butt of the back strap. "G" is also marked on the bottom ahead of the trigger guard. Matching serial numbers are marked on the cylinder arbor pin ("802"), loading lever ("0802"), cylinder, barrel, frame, trigger guard, back strap, correctly handwritten in black ink inside the grip mortise, and non-matching "926" is on the wedge. The revolver has a one-piece varnish finished highly figured deluxe walnut grip. Includes a fitted mahogany case with a James Squires London gun and rifle maker label on the interior of the lid with the handwritten name "MR. HARPUR, BRECON" on it, containing a James Dixon & Sons powder flask, Dixon & Sons oiler, "L" shaped combination tool, and a cap tin.
