(2pc) Chinese Qing Gouache On Pith Paper/ Carved Wood Frame
19th Cent., Chinese
19th-century Chinese school paintings on pith paper, presented in intricate Chinoiserie openwork carved wood frames. The hand-painted portraits depict a high-ranking Manchu nobleman from the Qing Dynasty, dressed in traditional, richly detailed court robes. The matching carved-wood frames are masterpieces in their own right, featuring traditional pagoda-style tops, geometric fretwork borders, and small sculpted figures nestled within winding scrolls.

  • Dimensions: L: 12" W: 8"
  • Condition: with minor cracking and light oxidation consistent with the age of the delicate pith paper, and a few minor chips to the carved wood frames
