A charming pair of American cast iron figural andirons depicting a traditionally dressed Dutch boy and Dutch girl, each standing with hands on hips in cheerful pose. The figures retain an attractive gilt-painted finish, lending warmth and decorative appeal while highlighting the expressive modeling of their period attire and smiling faces. The Dutch boy is shown wearing a cap, double-breasted tunic, voluminous trousers, and wooden shoes, while the Dutch girl wears a bonnet, apron, pleated skirt, and clogs. The cast iron fire dogs retain their original rear supports and are constructed for practical fireplace use while serving as highly decorative hearth ornaments. Popular during the early decades of the twentieth century, figural andirons celebrating European folk subjects were produced for Colonial Revival and Arts & Crafts interiors, combining utility with whimsical decorative character. Their sculptural presence makes them equally appealing as fireplace accessories or standalone decorative objects.   • Condition: Overall good antique condition. Retaining an aged gilt-painted surface with expected wear, rubbing, scattered losses to the finish, oxidation, surface rust, and accumulated patina consistent with age and fireplace use. Iron rear supports exhibit oxidation but remain intact. No significant cracks or repairs observed from the photographs.
