CHINA-BURMA-INDIA USAAF JACKET WITH THEATER-MADE PATCHES
Excellent World War II-period M1939 Class A uniform jacket worn by a member of the USAAF's China-Burma-India command. Constructed of green wool, the tunic is closed at front by four gilt buttons bearing the Seal of the United States. Each sleeve bears factory-embroidered corporal's Technician 5th Grade rank chevrons. The right shoulder bears a theater-made USAAF patch, constructed of bullion with some threads starting to come loose. The left sleeve bears a theater-made China-Burma-India shoulder patch, also constructed of gilt bullion with blue and red thread. A Ruptured Duck patch has been stitched to the right breast, while the left cuff bears four theater-made bullion combat stripes, over an additional bullion service stripe. The left breast bears three medal ribbon bars for the Good Conduct Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal (with two star devices), and the World War II Victory Medal. A brass ‘U. S.' collar disk is fitted to the left lapel, but the corresponding USAAF disk is missing. A fabric tag within the right hip pocket identifies the manufacturer as the Goodall Co., with a manufacturing date of July 10, 1942 and the size 37L. The owner's name ‘F Rawley' is inscribed inside the collar in black ink, beside the stamped size and a laundry number. In very good to fine overall condition.
