Outstanding Colt Etched Panel New House Spur Trigger Revolver from the Colt Factory Collection with Museum of Connecticut History Letter Manufactured in 1882, this is a an outstanding example of a Colt New House Model revolver with the desirable etched panel on the barrel that is documented as formerly of the Colt factory collection. The included letter from the Museum of Connecticut History lists the revolver by serial number, incorrectly referring to it as a "Colt 'New Line' Revolver" and noting that it was formerly displayed in the company collection before being donated to the museum in 1957. It is believed that the Colt factory collection became the property of the Arthur L. Ulrich Museum before being donated to the Museum of Connecticut History. Like Colt's New Line revolvers, these New Hose Models were intended both as a pocket-sized companion piece to Colt's full-sized "Peacemaker", as well as marketed towards urban residents in search of a concealable sidearm for self-defense. The top of the barrel on this example has the two-line address and the model and caliber marking in the acid etched panel on the left. The left of the frame is marked "38CAL". The serial number is marked on the left of the grip frame, the bottom of the barrel, and hand-scratched inside both grip panels. It has standard features including a pair of checkered hard rubber grips with "COLT" at the tops. Also includes copies of the original Colt collection inventories listing the revolver as well as copies of Arthur L. Ulrich Museum inventories listing the revolver.

  • Condition: Excellent, retains 97% plus of the original, untouched, slightly frosted nickel plating and 90% plus of the original nitre blue on small parts with a few scattered small patches of flaking, some light handling marks, and an extremely crisp etched panel. The grips are also excellent with an attractively aged chocolate tone, a few very light handling marks, and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. An example of the Colt New House revolver from the factory collection that would be difficult to improve upon!
