An original 11" x 14" lobby card featuring Pete Morrison in the 1919 Universal Western silent film The Gun Packer is an incredibly rare piece of early Hollywood ephemera. The film is historically significant because it was directed by legendary filmmaker John Ford (credited early in his career as Jack Ford) and co-starred Hoot Gibson. The Gun Packer was a popular two-reel Universal short. In it, Pete Morrison stars as the main character, "Pearl Handle" Wiley, alongside Magda Lane and Hoot Gibson. True to pre-1930 standards, it measures exactly 11" x 14" and was printed on heavy cardstock paper. These early cards generally relied on a central monochrome scene photo surrounded by distinctive Universal studio title borders. The Rarity: Because silent-era theater paper was routinely discarded or destroyed after a short run, very few physical copies of these 1919 cards still exist.
