An elegant and finely executed Dresden porcelain trumpet-form vase, richly decorated with hand-painted floral sprays, sculptural applied porcelain flowers, and delicate gilt accents, exemplifying the refined decorative traditions for which Dresden porcelain has long been celebrated. The graceful square-footed vase rises to a broad flared trumpet rim, its luminous ivory-white porcelain body embellished with scattered polychrome floral bouquets and lavishly applied three-dimensional blossoms in vibrant shades of blue, lavender, peach, yellow, and green. These meticulously modeled floral clusters project naturally from opposing sides of the vessel, creating a striking sculptural effect while demonstrating the exceptional hand craftsmanship associated with Dresden decorators. The gently scalloped rim and molded square foot are finished with hand-applied gilt borders that elegantly frame the composition. The underside bears the Dresden Saxony decorator's mark in gilt, identifying the piece as a hand-decorated example produced in the celebrated Dresden tradition. Since the eighteenth century, Dresden has represented some of Europe's finest porcelain artistry, renowned for richly ornamented floral decoration inspired by the great Rococo workshops. Elaborate applied flowers such as those featured here remain among the most desirable expressions of Dresden decorative porcelain, requiring extraordinary skill to model, fire, and assemble. A refined decorative object equally suited for display with or without floral arrangements, this sculptural vase offers exceptional visual presence and would make an impressive addition to collections of European porcelain, Dresden decorative arts, or elegant traditional interiors.

  • Literature: See: • Bergmann, Meissen and Dresden Porcelain reference works. • Cushion, John P. *Dresden Porcelain.* • Savage, George. *Porcelain Through the Ages.*
  • Circa: Mid to Late 20th Century
  • Condition: Very good vintage condition. The porcelain body is free from apparent cracks or repairs. The applied floral decoration remains largely intact with only minor expected flea bites and tiny edge losses to a few petals consistent with the fragile nature of this style of porcelain. Light wear to the gilt decoration and base commensurate with age and careful display. Overall presents beautifully. Examination under ultraviolet light is recommended for a complete condition assessment.
