UNUSUAL HIGHLY FIGURED MAPLE TABLE
New England, Circa 1800
Shaped overhanging top with line inlay along the perimeter and coin inlay at the center and at each of the out-rounded corners. Single drawer painted to simulate cut-corner line inlay. Brass bail handle probably original. Barber's pole inlay on all four sides of apron. Tapered legs with line inlay and beading on the outside edges.

  • Provenance:
    Alexander Acevedo, New York.
The Collection of Nancy & Larry Dickson.

    Reference:
A similar example, if not this exact table, is illustrated in Fine Points of Furniture: Early American by Albert Sack (N.Y.: Crown Publishers, Inc., 1950), p. 269 as a "best" example.
  • Dimensions: Height 27". Width 20". Depth 17.5".
  • Condition: Top with some age-appropriate surface wear, very minor staining and one burn hole. Small wood chip to top at back right corner. Front right leg has been professionally repaired. Two other small and inconsequential repairs to the bottom of two other legs. Back left leg has a slight warp at the bottom. Drawer pull is likely original.

The absence of a condition report does not imply an object is free of defects. All items may have normal signs of age and wear commensurate with their age; these issues will likely not be mentioned in the condition report. Please contact Eldred's before the auction with any condition questions. Questions about condition will not be answered after purchase. Condition reports are provided as a courtesy, and we are not responsible for any errors or omissions. Important note on frames: Frames are not guaranteed to be in the same condition as they are in the item photograph. Due to handling and shipping, many frames, especially antique ones, are prone to losses. If you have questions about the condition of a frame, please contact us prior to the auction.
