  • Dimensions: 19.75 x 15.75 inches (image), 21 x 17 inches (frame)
  • Medium: Alkyd and oil on canvas
  • Notes: SKNAC bio: Iris Hauser was born in 1956 in Cranbrook, British Columbia. She studied at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in the 1970s, and then came to Saskatoon to study at the University of Saskatchewan. She then moved to Kassel, Germany to study independently for a year before returning to Canada. Hauser has taught art at the Mendel Art Gallery and at the University of Saskatchewan's Certificate of Art and Design program. Hauser's large portraits in oil are rich in narrative and often incorporate symbolistic and disturbing imagery. Of her exhibition "A Time for Dancing" at the Vernon Public Art Gallery, a reviewer wrote, "Hauser's approach to painting and her ability in accurate modeling of human topography result in highly emotionally charged images, complemented by the selection of universal themes of the human condition." And the MacKenzie Art Gallery in Regina noted that "Through a dialectic of opposites: physicality and spirituality, past and present, Hauser's paintings transcend their particularity as realistic portraits of individuals and acknowledge the collective experience of what it means to be human." Hauser's paintings have been exhibited nationally and can be found in the permanent collections of the Saskatchewan Arts Board, Remai Modern (Saskatoon), Mann Art Gallery (Prince Albert), University of Saskatchewan (Saskatoon), University of Regina and the Canada Council Art Bank (Ottawa). Iris Hauser continues to live and work in Saskatoon.

All packing and shipping is done at the expense of the purchaser. If you are the successful bidder on one or more lots, you will receive an email directly from the auction house within 48 hours. All artworks are located in Regina, Saskatchewan and are available for pick-up. Also, we are currently offering free delivery in Regina on invoices over $200, and occasional delivery trips are made to Saskatoon to hand-deliver to Saskatoon home addresses for a small fee when there is sufficient demand. We can pack and ship throughout Canada and internationally, or can deliver your artworks to a recognized international shipper for them to pack and ship via their direct communications with you. For US buyers, note that all Canadian and US artworks have been proceeding as tariff exempt under the terms of the Canada-US-Mexico Free Trade Agreement, but the situation can change.
