This collection consists of three Wedgwood plates featuring marine and fish motifs produced for various markets. The first item is a Wedgwood bone china dinner plate in the Dolphins pattern, dated 1980. The circular plate features a flat rim with a monochromatic blue-gray transfer-printed border of shells, scrolls, and classical dolphins, accented by a gilt rim. The base is marked with a stylized W, Wedgwood, Dolphins, Bone China, Made in England, and a 1980 copyright mark. The second item is a Wedgwood bone china plate designed by Laurence Whistler, produced at the Barlaston factory circa 1950. The decoration features a central transfer-printed motif of a spouting sea monster in a fountain, surrounded by a border of shells and starfish connected by seaweed ribbons in pink, gray, and black with a gilt rim. The reverse features a stylized dolphin mark for Dolphin by Laurence Whistler and the Wedgwood Barlaston mark. The third item is a Wedgwood porcelain plate produced for the New York retailer Higgins and Seiter, circa 1900-1915. The plate features a scalloped rim and molded radial fluting on the well, decorated with a hand-painted border of swimming fish in iridescent purple, pink, and green tones amidst gilt seaweed. The base bears the Portland Vase mark, the registration number 353929, and the Higgins and Seiter New York retailer stamp. A silver Rubin Collection sticker is present on all plates.
