This lot consists of two United States Two Dollar Legal Tender Notes from the 1963 Series. These banknotes are distinguished by their red Treasury seals and red serial numbers. Both examples are star notes, which function as replacement notes for bills damaged during the printing process, identified by the star symbol prefix in their serial numbers: * 00462641 A and * 00022884 A. The obverse of each note features a central portrait of Thomas Jefferson with facsimile signatures of Treasurer Kathryn O'Hay Granahan and Secretary of the Treasury C. Douglas Dillon. The reverse displays a vignette of Jefferson's Virginia home, Monticello, and includes the motto IN GOD WE TRUST. Both notes are presented in clear plastic protective sleeves.
