PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA AND OTHER ENGRAVED-DECORATED COIN SILVER SPOONS AND SUGAR TONGS, LOT OF SEVEN, each piece with bright-cut engraved decoration to handle; comprising a set of four teaspoons by Samuel Williamson of Philadelphia, PA (active 1794-1813) having worn picture-back bowls of a left-facing bird; a tablespoon by Bassett & Warford of Albany, NY (1800-1805) with "IVAC" initials to handle; a tablespoon with an "HG" maker's mark, possibly for Horace Goodwin of Hartford, CT (1810-1851), featuring a coffin handle and "ABG" initials; and a pair of unmarked sugar tongs having unusual perpendicular-twist tapered arms with oval grips and "JPH" initials. Most with maker's marks. Total weight: 5.800 ozt. Together with a sterling silver salt spoon having engraved decoration to handle, impressed with unidentified "CT" maker's mark and "STERLING", total weight of 0.210 ozt. Eight pieces total. Late 18th/early 19th century. 4 1/4" to 9 1/8" LOA.

  • Condition:

    Mostly in good to very good overall condition with some wear, surface scratches, and other imperfections including nicks, slight bending, a few or more dents, and/or slightly to moderate worn spots to engraving; set of four teaspoons with heavy wear to picture-back decoration; "HG" tablespoon with repair / restoration to bowl tip.
