Mid-19th Century
Obverse depicts a whaling scene of two American whaleships, one cutting in, two whaleboats in the water and a surfaced whale. Reverse depicts eight ships engaged in battle, each firing their cannons and enveloped in smoke.

A tooth with whaling and battle scenes and similar composition and draftsmanship to this example is attributed to the Naval Engagement Engraver by Nina Hellman in Through the Eyes of a Collector (2015), p. 66, fig. 55.
