An elegant Chinese Export style porcelain covered tureen or decorative biscuit jar, beautifully decorated with richly detailed turquoise dragons and traditional geometric border ornamentation upon a lustrous white ground. The baluster-form body is accented by finely molded scroll handles with hand-applied gilt highlights, while the domed cover is surmounted by a matching finial, creating a graceful and well-balanced silhouette. The decoration features animated imperial-style dragons rendered in a striking turquoise enamel, complemented by stylized floral sprigs and an ornamental border inspired by traditional Chinese decorative arts. Delicate gilt trim along the rim, handles, and finial enhances the refined presentation, reflecting the enduring influence of eighteenth-century Chinese export porcelain on later decorative ceramics. Pieces of this type became especially popular during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries as European and American manufacturers embraced Oriental Revival aesthetics, producing elegant tablewares that combined classical Western forms with distinctive Asian-inspired decoration. Their timeless appeal continues to attract collectors of decorative porcelain, chinoiserie, and fine tableware. Equally suited for display in a cabinet, on a dining table, or within a collection of Asian-inspired ceramics, this attractive covered vessel offers a sophisticated blend of decorative artistry and functional design.

  • Literature: Comparable examples can be found among Chinese Export Revival porcelains and Oriental Revival ceramics produced for the European and American markets during the early twentieth century. Similar dragon-decorated wares were manufactured by several English and Continental porcelain firms inspired by traditional Chinese export designs.
  • Circa: Early to mid-20th century, circa 1920s–1950s.
  • Condition: Good vintage condition. Light wear consistent with age and use, including minor rubbing to the gilt decoration and scattered glaze imperfections. No obvious major cracks or significant losses observed from the photographs provided. Please examine all photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the condition report.
