U.S. ARMY AIR FORCES UNIFORM JACKETS (2)
A good pair of World War II-era U.S. Army Air Forces M1939 Class A uniform jackets, both constructed of green wool, the first displaying an embroidered USAAF patch with ‘Training Command' banner on the left sleeve, with an engineer's rating patch on the right cuff, and embroidered sergeant's rank patches with three chevrons at each shoulder. The jacket is closed at front by four gilt buttons bearing the Seal of the United States, and brass ‘U. S.' and USAAF collar disks are fitted to the lapels. A fabric tag within the right hip pocket identifies the manufacturer as the G. M. Uniform Co., with a manufacturing date of Feb. 7, 1940 and the size 37R. The size is also stamped inside the collar, with a laundry tag stapled below. In very good to fine condition. The second jacket displays an earlier embroidered wool USAAF insignia patch at the left shoulder, the blue field badly faded, with no other insignia present besides the buttons and collar disks described above. The manufacturer's label names the Goodall Co. and is dated Feb. 7, 1940. In very good overall condition. Two pieces.
