A William and Mary Walnut and Marquetry Tall Case Clock
John Wise, London, Late 17th Century
Height 84 1/2 x width 18 1/4 x depth 9 1/2 inches.
Property from the Estate of Audrey and Philip Rietveld, Crete, Illinois
This lot is located in Chicago.

  • Provenance: John Noot, Worcestershire, October 10, 1983
  • Condition: Case is sturdy and attractive with some sun-fading to the front and some scattered age splits and spots of fill. The frieze and crest on the top of the hood are not original to the clock. All parts are present. The cord that winds the right chamber has snapped, and the hook from which the weight hangs is detached. There is a key for the case, and the lock is functional. The clock strikes on the hour when the hands are manually advanced. Both chambers take a wind. Has not been examined by an horologist. Additional images available upon request.
