A substantial Chinese blue and white porcelain teapot or wine vessel, hand-decorated in rich cobalt underglaze with an attractive allover floral motif above a geometric lattice border. The rounded baluster-form body is fitted with a pronounced pouring spout, four applied lug-style handles spaced evenly around the shoulder, and a recessed mouth with a fitted flat cover. The vessel displays a lively hand-painted design featuring stylized blossoms, scrolling foliage, concentric banding, and dotted decorative borders, all executed in traditional cobalt blue on a creamy white porcelain ground. The lower register is encircled by a bold vertical lattice pattern, creating an appealing contrast with the free-flowing floral decoration above. The underside bears a blue underglaze four-character apocryphal Chinese reign mark within a double-square, a mark commonly employed on decorative export porcelains in homage to earlier imperial wares. The form is reminiscent of traditional Chinese wine or tea vessels and makes an impressive decorative object for collectors of Asian ceramics or blue and white porcelain. A handsome and visually striking display piece combining traditional Chinese decorative aesthetics with a generously scaled, sculptural form.

  • Literature: Blue and white porcelain has been one of China's most enduring ceramic traditions since the Yuan and Ming dynasties, with cobalt underglaze decoration remaining highly sought after by collectors worldwide. Decorative vessels bearing apocryphal reign marks became especially popular during the 20th century, faithfully reproducing historic forms and motifs inspired by earlier imperial porcelains while serving both domestic and export markets.
  • Circa: Mid to late 20th century.
  • Condition: Overall good vintage condition. Light wear to the glaze and expected firing imperfections including minor kiln speckling and glaze irregularities. Typical wear to the unglazed foot rim and cover flange consistent with age and use. No obvious major cracks or repairs observed from the provided photographs. Buyers should review all photographs carefully for complete condition details.
