A fine American Classical figured mahogany drop-leaf work or sewing table, Boston, circa 1820–1830, attributed to Isaac Vose or Vose & Son. The rectangular top with rounded drop leaves opens to form an extended work surface, above three graduated drawers with rounded fronts, original-style turned wooden pulls, and individual escutcheons, the whole raised on cylindrical supports and a trestle base with turned stretcher, shaped feet, and brass casters. The lower section retains a demi-lune silk sewing bag, now covered in pale green fabric, suspended beneath the drawer case. The table is distinguished by richly figured mahogany veneers throughout, including mahogany drawer fronts and drawer construction, and closely relates to documented Boston Classical work tables attributed to Vose, particularly examples with drop leaves, multiple drawers, demi-lune sewing bag, cylindrical supports, and brass casters. 28.5 in. H, 18.5 in. W closed, 35 in. W extended, 18 in. D.

  • Condition: Good overall antique condition with age-appropriate wear, scattered surface scratches, minor veneer and finish wear, shrinkage, and small abrasions to edges and moldings. Richly figured mahogany surface presents well. Drawers appear clean and well fitted, with mahogany drawer fronts and mahogany drawer elements visible. Sewing bag fabric is later and shows light wear. Brass casters present. Structurally sound.
