Folio. Hand-colored vignette on title-page, 25 plates, many folding. Original quarter calf gilt, pictorial boards, uncut.

LIMITED EDITION, one of 450 copies, with prospectus and additional maps and leaves laid in. "The misconception that California was an island persisted until early in the eighteenth century, and at least 170 maps, in numerous editions, record this error.
