Two works from De Palma's Solo exhibition at the noted Fawbush Gallery. The sculpture illustrated the exhibition catalog cover.

Brett DePalma was prominent in the downtown New York art scene of the late 1970s and early 1980s. He was included in the landmark New York, New Wave exhibition at MoMA PS1 in 1981 and participated in the prestigious Documenta 7 in Kassel, Germany, in 1982. During the 1980s he exhibited with the influential Tony Shafrazi Gallery and later the groundbreaking Fawbush Gallery, alongside many of the era's leading contemporary artists like Kiki Smith, also represented in this auction. Brett's work is represented in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Whitney Museum of American Art, and the Smithsonian Institution.

Overall framed size measures 29.75 x 23.75 and the sculpture is 15.25 x 7 x 4.25 inches.

SHIPPING: After verifying that payment has been made and or all funds have cleared, Dirk Soulis Antiques LLC DBA Soulis Auctions will, as a courtesy to the client, undertake the packing and shipping of most purchases. Large items, Furniture, International Shipments and items deemed excessively fragile by Soulis Auctions may require special handling by a third party. Soulis Auctions will coordinate with the buyer's chosen shipper in these instances and will endeavor to provide as much assistance as possible. The cost for shipping handled in-house starts at $16 per box and or the actual cost of wood crate construction, in addition to the cost of insurance and postage or carrier charges. The cost of crates range by size; the majority fall into the range of $50 to $150.

STORAGE AND CARE: All bidders agree that property left at Soulis Auctions storage facilities more than 30 days past the date of sale becomes the complete and total responsibility of the buyer. Soulis Auctions will in no way be responsible for the safety of said property, Soulis will not reimburse for any damage or loss incurred after the free 30 day storage option offered as a gesture to buyer. Any and all property passes from the care, custody and control of Soulis Auctions to seller on day 31.
