She was the original Empress consort of Emperor Yongzheng, a member of the Plain Yellow Banner of the Manchu, and the daughter of Cheng'en Duke Fei Yanggu. Historically, she is known as Empress Xiao Jing Xian. She was officially instated as an Empress by Emperor Yongzheng in 1723, becoming his only personally appointed empress, and she remains the only empress in Qing Dynasty history to have held the position for over 40 years.
