    Other notes:
Bennie Ration (Navajo/Diné, b. 1955) is a silversmith known for his distinctive three-dimensional jewelry and sculptural interpretations of Southwestern imagery. Born on the Canoncito Navajo Reservation in New Mexico, he learned silversmithing from his father, John Ration, beginning at the age of eleven.
After studying graphic design and screen printing in Scottsdale, Arizona, Ration worked professionally as a graphic designer before returning to jewelry making in 1978. His background in design helped shape a recognizable style characterized by dimensional forms, strong geometric composition, and precise silverwork. Ration is particularly known for depictions of kachina figures, birds, feathers, and other Southwestern motifs rendered in sterling silver, often incorporating turquoise and overlay techniques.
