A handsome and increasingly collectible Magnificent Magnavox "Custom" stereo console, beautifully housed in a finely crafted Mid-Century Modern cabinet with rich figured mahogany veneers, sliding top panels, sculptural front doors, and woven cane speaker grilles. Combining elegant furniture design with high-fidelity audio engineering, this impressive console embodies the golden age of American home entertainment. The interior reveals a Magnavox High-Fidelity AM/FM stereo receiver with illuminated tuning dial, original controls, and a British-made Garrard automatic record changer, one of the most respected turntable manufacturers of the era. Sliding top panels provide access to the record changer and electronics, while the opposite compartment offers convenient integrated LP record storage. The front cabinet opens to additional storage and access to the speaker system. Founded in 1917, Magnavox became one of America's premier manufacturers of premium home audio equipment, renowned for producing exceptionally well-built consoles that combined furniture-quality cabinetry with advanced electronics. Their flagship "Magnificent Magnavox" series represented the company's highest standard of craftsmanship and performance during the late 1950s and early 1960s. The inclusion of a Garrard record changer, manufactured in England and widely regarded as the benchmark for automatic turntables, further distinguishes this example. The cabinet displays attractive bookmatched mahogany veneers framed by clean architectural lines softened with subtle French Provincial influences, allowing the piece to integrate effortlessly into both traditional and Mid-Century interiors. Whether appreciated as a functioning vintage stereo, a statement furniture piece, or an exceptional candidate for restoration, this Magnavox console represents an enduring icon of twentieth-century American design and engineering. A highly decorative and increasingly sought-after Mid-Century stereo console that combines quality craftsmanship, classic styling, and the warm character of analog sound.

  • Literature: Magnavox was among America's leading manufacturers of premium home entertainment systems during the postwar era, producing high-fidelity stereo consoles that blended quality cabinetry with advanced electronics. Ltd., England, supplied many of the finest automatic record changers used by premium American manufacturers throughout the 1950s and 1960s, prized for their durability and performance.
  • Circa: Circa 1960–1963.
  • Condition: Overall good vintage condition. Cabinet retains an attractive original finish with scattered surface scratches, edge wear, and minor finish losses consistent with age and use. Cane speaker grilles remain intact and present well. Interior components appear substantially complete, including the original Magnavox receiver and Garrard automatic record changer.
