INTERNATIONAL MILITARY TRIBUNAL PROCEEDINGS (18)
Collection of 18 volumes of a series of officially published books outlining the full proceedings of the first round of trials under the jurisdiction of the International Military Tribunal. These books, 6.75 in. x 9.5 in, with blue woven cloth covers, are referred to as 'The Blue Series', and were published a few volumes at a time, between 1947 and 1949. This first trial, held by the International Tribunal (the focus of this series of books) covers what was known as the 'Trial of the Major War Criminals Before the International Military Tribunal', and it ran from 14 November 1945 thru 1 October 1946. The tribunal itself, established by the victorious Allied coalition, organized several series of trials. This set of books covers the first and most important set of trials, which in essence tested the concept of war trials held against the defeated by the victors. This is the primary published record, outlining all aspects of the International Military Tribunal for the Major War Criminals trial. The full set (not offered here), consists of 42-volumes collection of proceedings. Volumes offered here are include numbers 7, 14, 15, 18, 19, 20, 22, 23, 24, 26, 27, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, and the final book, volume 42. Various original series volume titles include: 'Documents in Evidence', 'Chronological and Subject Index', 'Proceedings 19 July - 29 July 1946', 'Proceedings 30 July - 10 August 1946', 'Documents and Name Index Errata', 'Documents in Evidence Col. Neave Report to Affidavit SS -87', and more. Good condition throughout, although some volumes showing varying degrees of loss to gold embossed spine titles, some spines showing fading from sunlight, exposure, and previous owners labeling, as well as some deteriorating glue to some bindings. Partial collection from a rare and desirable series of period books covering the most important trial in history.
