This collection consists of mid-century American containers manufactured for automotive maintenance and industrial shop use. The group includes a variety of shapes including rectangular utility, cylindrical paint, cone-top, and flat-top styles. The largest item is a one-gallon Blue Seal Cutting Oil rectangular tin from the Blue Seal Chemical Company of Roselle Park, New Jersey, featuring a blue serrated logo and the slogan Be Good To Your Tools. A one-pint Car-Skin Special Cleaner and Polish tin from Car-Skin Products Corporation of Flemington, New Jersey, displays a graphic of a late 1950s automobile in a peach and black color scheme. The Lawrence Tiger Brand Universal Enamel cylindrical one-pint tin from W.W. Lawrence and Company of Pittsburgh features the color Peach No. 670 and a central tiger head trademark. The Quaker Maid Gas Line Antifreeze 12-ounce cone-top tin, distributed by Texstar Automotive Distribution Group, Inc. of St. Louis, Missouri, includes a portrait of a woman in a Quaker bonnet; the presence of a zip code indicates a production date after 1963. Completing the group is a half-pint Farm Master Neatsfoot Oil flat-top tin, a Sears, Roebuck and Co. brand, featuring illustrations of a farmer and a cow. All items are constructed of lithographed tin.
