EGYPTIAN CONTRACT REMINGTON ROLLING BLOCK RIFLE
Third-pattern Egyptian Model Rolling Block rifle chambered for the .43 Egyptian round, 35.5 in. barrel, 49.5 in. overall, manufactured by Remington of Ilion, New York, so indicated with a three-line roll mark on the top receiver tang, with patent dates up to 1874. The breech end of the barrel and the receiver ring bear Arabic markings, some lined out, and the left-hand side of the receiver is marked ‘E P' over a crescent moon, indicating Egyptian police usage. All mechanical components function as constructed. The metal components are finished brown overall, and show freckling, scuffs, scratches and signs of polishing commensurate with heavy use. The bore is dirty but retains strong rifling, except at the crown, which shows heavy wear. The butt shows a 6 in. crack to the comb with slight play, with additional small cracks and chips around the butt plate. The rear sight is lacking its slider and is quite loose in its base. NRA grade very good. Antique/black powder, no FFL or C&R required.
