An impressive and highly decorative Mid-Century Modern wall sculpture featuring two stylized birds perched among gracefully sweeping branches adorned with sculptural leaves. Executed in a sophisticated combination of richly grained teak wood, brass-tone sheet metal, and painted steel, the composition exemplifies the organic, biomorphic aesthetic that defined Scandinavian and American modern decorative arts during the 1950s through the 1970s. The birds are beautifully rendered with sculpted wooden heads and bodies accented by layered brass-tone wings, while delicate wire details form elegant crests. Flowing white-painted steel branches are embellished with dimensional leaves finished in soft ivory with subtle teal-green shading, lending depth and movement to the composition. The central sweeping teak form anchors the design and creates a dynamic sense of upward motion. A few leaves exhibit minor edge wear and light bending. Metal retains an attractive patina, and the sculpture presents exceptionally well overall. Ready for wall display.
