An archival collection of personal documentation belonging to a United States service member during the Korean War era, circa 1950 to 1953. The lot includes one large-format photograph album featuring a textured brown synthetic cover and black paper mounting pages, along with a collection of loose photographic prints and paper ephemera. The photographs consist primarily of black and white silver gelatin prints documenting military life and operations in the Republic of Korea. Service members are pictured in standard-issue cold weather and utility gear including M1943 and M1951 field jackets, herringbone twill fatigue uniforms, M1 steel helmets, and M1951 field caps. Visual documentation of the theater of operations includes shots of military infrastructure such as general purpose tents, semi-permanent Quonset huts, and timber-framed tent bases. Tactical and field imagery includes views of smoke on mountainsides, soldiers in defensive positions, and various Korean landscapes. Vehicle and mechanical interest items include images of a light tracked utility vehicle, the wreckage of a military aircraft, and interior cockpit views. One photograph bears handwritten ink notations identifying a figure as Ken-Ill and a location as Highway. Ephemera includes several South Korean 100 Won banknotes issued by the Bank of Korea, printed on paper with central guilloche designs and English language text.
