Sergio Lopez Orozco was born in 1946 in Mexico City, where he harnessed his interest in papermaking at the Academia de San Carlos. He proceeded to travel the world studying papermaking techniques across the globe. He eventually founded a workshop for research on alternative papermaking and its use in visual art. Sergio López Orozco's handmade paper murals are probably the only large-format pre-papers in existence in the world. He has participated in numerous international group exhibitions at various museums, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Pennsylvania Museum of Modern Art, the Museo de Arte Moderno del Estado de México, and the Museo Nacional de Antropología e Historia. He has had notable solo exhibitions at venues such as the Museo Universitario del Chopo, the Museo de Bellas Artes del Estado de México, the Memorial de América Latina in São Paulo, Brazil, the Museum Commanderie van Sint-Jan. Nijmegen, the Netherlands, and the ARMA Museum in Bali, Indonesia. He has also held more than 50 solo exhibitions in various renowned galleries and cultural institutions in Brazil, Japan, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Nepal, Peru, the United States, Indonesia, and Mexico.

Shipping

Shipment is the full responsibility of the buyer. Selkirk will not be responsible for any loss, damage, theft, or otherwise responsible for any items left in Selkirk's possession fifteen (15) days after the sale. If arrangements for shipping have not been made and communicated within thirty (30) days, Selkirk reserves the right, at this time, to charge a storage fee of $10 per lot per day for furniture and large format items and $5 per lot per day for all other items, and within sixty (60) days, at its own discretion, sell any items left on the premises. Accumulated fees resulting from storage and insurance cost will be taken out of any proceeds.

Objects that contain materials of endangered or protected species may be subject to regulations disallowing export and import into other states or countries. It is the buyer's responsibility to be aware of all applicable laws and regulations and to obtain any required export or import licenses or certificates and any other required documentation.
