This framed print on paper is after the original painting by Sakai Hoitsu (Japanese, 1761-1829) titled Iris and Mandarin Ducks. The work is rendered in the Rinpa school style, depicting a pair of mandarin ducks on a rock formation beneath blue irises. The lower right section of the image includes a printed vertical signature and a red fan-shaped seal. A label on the reverse from the Dallas Museum of Fine Arts identifies the original work as a late Edo period piece from the Foundation for the Arts Collection. The print is mounted under glass in a modern gilt-toned wood frame.
