  • Notes: Paul Walde holds a BFA from the University of Western Ontario and a Master's Degree from New York University. Walde had grown up in rural Norther Ontario, and during his time in New York he was struck by the differences between those two environments. From that time, nature has been central to Walde's practice. Since his teens, Walde was also a musician, and although he trained as a painter, his art practice has incorporated more music and sound elements over the years, and today he is a thoroughly interdisciplinary artist, with sound-based projects, installations, projections and performance central to his practice. His work can be found in many important collections in the Canada and the US including the Musee des Beaux-arts de Montreal, The Anchorage Museum, and Museum London (Ontario). He is currently Associate Professor of Visual Arts and Department Head at the University of Victoria.
