Original charcoal and gouache by James Montgomery Flagg (American, 1877-1960), an artist best known for his Uncle Sam recruitment posters in WWI. Depicts standing man figure, the actor Thomas Meighan. Image was used in the poster for "The Alaskan," a 1924 Paramount silent movie also starring Estelle Taylor. Signed lower left. Sight size 37" x 19-1/2" frame 39-1/2" x 21-1/2". Provenance: Given to the actor (Meighan) by the artist. Artwork has always been in possession of the Meighan family.
