(1939-1998)
Double fountain
Copper
Each unmarked

  • Provenance: Other notes:
Eric Orr created a number of fountain sculptures that merged elemental materials such as water, fire, stone, fog, and metal into meditative public artworks exploring perception and spirituality. Working within the Southern California Light and Space movement, Orr viewed fountains not simply as decorative objects but as immersive environments that reflected his fascination with transformation, ritual, and the symbolic power of natural forces. Many of his fountains combined engineering complexity with minimalist form, often using flowing water as a metaphor for consciousness and the "void," a recurring theme throughout his practice. His fountain works, including pieces from the Prime Matter series and large-scale public commissions, embodied his belief that sculpture could alter a viewer's physical and psychological experience of space.
