A vintage Landers, Frary & Clark "Universal" No. 1 Food and Meat Chopper, complete with its original illustrated retail box and an assortment of original components and attachments. Manufactured in New Britain, Connecticut, this hand-operated countertop grinder features a cast aluminum body, wooden crank handle, clamp-on mounting base, auger, cutting plates, retaining ring, knife, and associated hardware. Landers, Frary & Clark was one of America's premier manufacturers of household and kitchen equipment during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Their "Universal" line became synonymous with quality, durability, and innovative design, supplying homes across the United States with dependable food preparation tools. Today, original Universal kitchen implements remain highly collectible, particularly when accompanied by their period packaging. The surviving original box retains printed advertising promoting the Universal Food and Meat Chopper No. 1, including suggested food preparations and operating instructions. Although showing significant age-related wear, the box enhances the historical appeal and collectability of the set. An excellent example of early American kitchenware, well suited for collectors of Universal brand implements, early culinary antiques, farmhouse décor, country store displays, or domestic Americana.

  • Condition: Vintage condition with expected wear from age and use, including oxidation, surface scratches, discoloration, and residue to the cast aluminum components. The original cardboard box exhibits heavy wear, losses, tears, staining, and edge damage but remains identifiable and accompanies the lot. Completeness and mechanical functionality have not been tested; the lot is offered as found.
